Birthday celebration in school for my little 2 years old

Its XY second birthday and her first in the childcare. I am clueless about childcare celebrations and we decided that we could buy a cake and a small token for the children in the class.

Her favourite character as for now is Minnie mouse but the mummy thinks that a different theme from home celebration will be good variety.
We decided on Minions and started shopping!

The cake.
The school needed a Halal cake and we thought that a physical shop will be a better choice than home bakers since we are feeding 26 less than 2 years old toddlers.  Just to be a little careful since this is the first time we are bringing in outside food. There are so many home bakers that bake very beautiful and delicious cake, its a pity that we have to miss it this time round. (:

The school mentioned that a 1kg cake will be sufficient for the little tummies but i realises that many cake shop now go by inches instead. The hype about gourmet cakes now are that they are mostly super tall (probably a 4 layers or 6 layers) so for a 1kg cake, they are very tiny as well. Well, because they go upwards.  A 8 inches cake should be a decent size and we wanted it to be a double layer for easy cutting it into so many small pieces.

For character cakes that are not printed, the price is pretty steep and i wanted a value for money cake, teehee. One cheaper option is to get a pretty base cake and purchase your own birthday toppers.
I came across this halal bakery in Jcube name Riz delights while on my way to thecakeshop to order her cake. Thecakeshop is not halal certified but they do not use lard or alcohol in their cakes which the school mentioned that it is acceptable.  I was just trying my luck in checking with Riz delights the pricing and was surprised to be talking to the lady boss who is very open to suggestion and we started discussing the design together.

I ended up paying $65 for a 8 inches cake with blue and white watercolour base with yellow chocolate drips. This is probably the cheapest i can find for ombre or watercolour based cake. There are a few flavors to choose from and i guess chocolate flavour will be my safest bet. For rainbow layers, it will be additional $15 on top of the $65.
For the topper, i started my taobao search and found these.

I guess that will be too plain for the cake and went to carousel and DIY a birthday wording topper as well. Just for info that taobao does that too but due to the 11 Nov hitch, i guess i will never get my topper in time.

Finally.. my half DIY cake. Candle and rainbow chocolate bits are from phoon huat. The only complain is that the chocolate drips isn't done as beautifully as expected.

The gift for the class
Taobao is my best bet for little gift to make the children happy. Budget is about $2 per child for 30 pax and this projector watch makes it the most practical gift i can find online with that budget.

Bought minions bag and customised sticker to complete the goodie bags. We are all ready! :D
